November 5th 2009 - HiveMobile is making your Hive portable

With such a compact size, Hive is nearly portable. However, it would not be wise to carry your Hive around without sufficient protection. That is why we have created HiveMobile.

HiveCosy

HiveMobile is a luxury flight case in high quality aluminium, designed from the ground up for Hive. It simply allows you to protect your valuable data when you are on the move. It also turns Hive Into a genuine alternative to old fashioned tape backup, because it allows you to safely move up to 8TB of data around without risk of damage to the media. We are just in the process of releasing HiveCosy and more information is available here.

August 1st 2009 - Hive to be distributed by Computers Unlimited

Hive Tech is proud to announce that it has named Computers Unlimited as its exclusive distributor for the UK, France and Spain. See the press release here.

July 15th 2009 - 6TB Hive is go - at last

Because Hive Tech is commited to offering the ultimate storage capacity per watt coupled unsurpassed hard drive reliability, we have synchronized the release of our 6TB Hive with the world wide release of the WD 1.5TB AV Green Power drive.

The Western Digital Green Power AV hard disk range offers the perfect balance between performance, power consumption and reliability.

The Green Power AV drive is available in different capacities from 500GB and up to 2TB. However the 1.5TB version has been surrounded by quite a lot of uncertainty. At first this drive would not make it into production but due to unpresidented demand by Hive customers, production of the 1.5TB Green Power AV drive has now been given the green light after all, which is great news for customers who need more than 4TB but find 8TB to be too much.

Other 1.5TB drives are available from a variety of different manufacturers but we refuse to let our customers get stung by offering nothing but the best that hard drive market has to offer.

April 2009 - The Hive has landed

New desktop mini-RAID system sweetens data storage

A brand new name in data storage is causing a buzz with its first in a range of 4-disk desktop mini-RAID systems that offer heavy-duty data protection for under £1,100. Launched 1st May 2009 by Hive Tech, an off-shoot of UK storage specialist United Digital, the Hive holds up to 6 terabytes of data  the equivalent capacity of 24 powerful computers ñ and includes an eSATA connection option for fast-as-lightening data transfer.

The sleek device, which comes fully pre-configured, is designed to meet the needs of professionals who require absolute peace-of-mind storing large files of valuable data, such as photographers and media and graphic arts companies. Using energy-saving disk drives from Western Digital, the Hive can seamlessly rebuild 1TB of data within just three hours if one disk fails, ensuring that zero data is lost and no downtime occurs.

Hans-Henrik Enoksen, CEO of United Digital and Hive Tech, comments: Cheap and cheerful desktop RAID systems have flooded the market, but time and time again we hear from distraught professionals who have put their faith in sub-standard technology and lost valuable time and money as a result.

No professional can afford to lose their work, so we developed the Hive to offer desktop RAID customers the same heavy-duty, ultra-reliable protection that we supply for multi-national companies, without the big-company price-tag. Hive Tech is the first mini-RAID manufacturer to offer a 2-year onsite warranty, removing the time-consuming and risky process of sending devices away to a foreign country if a problem occurs. Instead, a 24-hour telephone number will be provided for customers to call and arrange for a highly-trained field engineer to visit their address and carry out onsite repairs.

The Hive comes with USB 2.0, eSATA and Firewire 400 and 800 connectors. Available in 2TB, 4TB and 6TB configurations, the Hive will be available from selected resellers from 1 May 2009. Introduction prices are £585, £825 and £1095 respectively. Prices are ex. VAT.
